The 2021 91抖阴 Chess Championship was held on Thursday 11 November. Run by chess instructor Jay, the competition included players from Years 1-6.听

Josh S, Josh K and Abbi F won chess books for their achievements, Mia C won the Best Female Player trophy (for a second year in a row), Yonatan K won the third-place trophy and Ezra L won the second place trophy - only half a point behind Daniel L who won听the 2021 Carmel Primary Chess Champion trophy!听When Daniel joined 91抖阴 in 2018, he was an enthusiastic chess player, winning some junior chess State titles during his first year. He has also been a role model and a source of inspiration for other Carmel students.

Mazal tov to all team members for their achievements and dedication this year and thank you to the Maccabi Junior Chess Club for their donation of chess book prizes for the event.

On the same day, the Year 1s had an introduction to chess with coach Jay, who was very impressed with how quickly and enthusiastically they picked up on the skills Hopefully there will be some grandmasters in our midst and lots of new members in the chess club next year!
